Run today by Jack and Vicky Glendenning, this operation represents four generations of family tied to the same land, the same cattle, and the same way of life. What started with Jack and Jane has grown into something bigger—now carried forward by their children and even the next generation already learning the ropes.
From the early days raising Herefords and Angus, the ranch took a defining turn in 1984 when Jack D. Glendenning and his father brought home their first full-blood Limousin bull. That moment changed the direction of the program—and sparked a long-term commitment to the breed.
Today, J Bar J Ranch runs both registered and commercial Limousin and Red Angus cow-calf pairs, combining proven genetics with practical, real-world performance. But more than the cattle, it’s the people behind the operation that define it.
This is a family that didn’t have to be convinced to stay in the business.
Jack and Vicky’s children—Josh, Jace, and Jayme—grew up around the cattle and chose it for themselves. As Jack puts it, “I didn’t make them do any of it. They love the cattle business.”
That kind of passion can’t be forced. It’s built over time, through early mornings, long days, and a deep connection to the work.
Now, with young grandchildren already walking the same ground, the future of J Bar J Ranch is already in motion.
This isn’t just a ranch that’s lasted—it’s one that continues to grow, evolve, and stay rooted in what matters: family, cattle, and a shared commitment to doing things right.
