The story begins in 1945, when James Thomas Wallace purchased 40 acres just south of Cherokee, Alabama. What started as a modest family farm has steadily grown into more than 900 acres of productive farmland and a thriving cattle operation in the beautiful Freedom Hills of Colbert County.

More than 80 years later, the Wallace family continues to care for the same land with the same values that started it all: hard work, stewardship, and a commitment to leaving the farm better than they found it.

Today, Wallace Farm is proudly operated by multiple generations of the Wallace family. Their predominantly Black Angus cow-calf herd is the heart of the operation, supported by hay production and leased farmland used for row crops. Every acre reflects decades of careful management and a deep respect for the land that has provided for their family through the years.

Like many family farms across America, Wallace Farm has grown one season at a time.

Each generation has contributed something new while honoring the lessons passed down from those before them. That balance between tradition and progress has allowed the farm not only to endure, but to thrive through changing times.

Their dedication hasn't gone unnoticed.

In 2019, Wallace Farm was honored as the Colbert County Farm Family of Distinction, recognizing decades of commitment to agriculture, community, and responsible land stewardship. It's an achievement that reflects far more than acres or herd size—it represents the character and values that define the Wallace family.

For the Wallaces, ranching is about more than raising cattle.

It's about caring for the land so future generations can continue the work. It's about producing quality livestock with integrity. And it's about preserving a way of life that has shaped their family for more than eight decades.
